Marina Gasolina – Debut Album ‘Commando’ Produced By Ladytron’s Daniel Hunt
You could never accuse the enigmatic Marina Gasolina of being bland or conformist. The founding member and former front person of controversial Brazilian baile-funk band Bonde Do Role has unleashed her début album ‘Commando’.
Released via former CSS lynch pin Adriano Cintra‘s label Coletiva Produtora and produced by Ladytron‘s Daniel Hunt and Etienne Tron (Radioclit,) ‘Commando’ is a dizzying mix of surf rock n’ roll, electro punk and pure ‘white trash rockabilly.’ It also sees her breaking free from the baile-funk sound to explore her punkier roots and create a sound that has been described as “Peggy Lee backed by the Stooges” and “Karen O fronting The Mary Chain sound-tracking a cyberpunk spaghetti western!”
Since leaving Bonde Do Role, Marina has collaborated with Adriano Cintra to form the highly acclaimed duo Madrid, she has also relocated from Brazil, initially to London before settling in Paris. On her way, she’s worked with an array of acclaimed artists such as The Go! Team, Crookers, Herve, Severin, AcidKids Maskinen, and Architecture in Helsinki.
