KYOU Radio: Open Source Radio!
KYOU Radio is the world's first radio station to broadcast podcasts. In today's landscape of sound bites, consultants, targeted demographics, and cookie cutter formats, KYOU Radio provides an outlet for original content created and chosen by YOU, the artist and listener. This is music and talk programming straight from the source, and not filtered through some anonymous focus group.
Our programming consists entirely of podcasts and original programs created and submitted by KYOU Radio listeners. These are people who love radio; they're musicians, music fans, and regular citizens who have grown tired, bored, and frustrated with just about everything currently available on commercial radio today. They are determined to tap into the vast wealth of new and unique programming that has emerged over the last year as a result of podcasting.
Every day, KYOU Radio listeners experience a diverse line-up that incorporates numerous musical genres into a mix of informative and entertaining talk on any number of topics. KYOU Radio is unlike anything available on commercial radio today. If you think of it more in terms of a podcast portal than an actual radio station you'll begin to get the idea. And we continue to evolve on a daily basis. Whether you want to get actively involved or just listen to what your friends are up to, go to www.KYOUradio.com.
Join the revolution and help us take back radio!
About Podcasts:
"Podcasts" are simply digital audio recordings. Anyone with a computer can create a podcast. All that is needed is a computer, microphone and an audio recording program. Most often, the recordings are saved as mp3 files which can then be uploaded anywhere online. There is a variety of good quality, inexpensive microphones available as well as a huge variety of good FREE audio recording software packages out there. Some of the best are:
Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net)
CastBlaster (www.castblaster.com)
Kristal (http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/index.php)
And make sure to check out Odeo (http://www.odeo.com) this August!
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and start podcasting!
