From the instant success of his weekly ‘Sessions’ parties in New York, to his coveted residency at Ministry of Sound (he’s still one of the only American DJs to ever hold one) and of course his now legendary Subliminal Sessions parties at Pacha, Ibiza, he now celebrates his 13th historic season at the club in 2010.
This year, the concept for his world-famous Subliminal Sessions 2010 is Voodoo Nights. Led by their insatiable, irrepressible head Witch Doctor Erick Morillo, this is the most spine-tingling, show-stopping house music season ever seen at Pacha including real life voodoo dolls and pyrotechnics on an enormous scale.
“Voodoo Nights is our direction this summer, which I’m very excited about,” says Erick. “I’ll be the resident witch doctor using my spectacular magic skills to put the dance floor under my spell! It’s going to be very sexy, with lots of girls running around and being sacrificed! The opening party is myself and Steve Angello, who’s become one of my closest friends and allies in the industry. I’ve watched him grow into one of the biggest names in house music so I’m really happy he’s still supporting Subliminal.”
Steve Angello isn’t the only name returning to Subliminal in 2010. Having last performed live with Erick back in 2004, Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs also returned with his Diddy-Dirty Money crew to rock the club sideways in early August.
Breaking out into new areas, Erick also launched his new Subliminal Sessions clothing line in conjunction with American Apparel. Hot off the heals of his new bag range in collaboration with Knomo, the Morillo brand looks set to get bigger and bigger.
He’s set to headline SW4 Festival in South London, the Capital’s biggest dance event, where the likes of Sasha, Pete Tong and Paul Oakenfold will also be taking to the stage.
Like no other, Morillo has consistently raised the bar and pushed the box in terms of his creative passion and commercial prowess. With a diary already filled well in 2012, his non-stop DJing schedule and production duties see him straddle the globe, playing up to 30 gigs a month.
This summer, the world belongs to Morillo.
